Our newest Hawaiian Indoor Fountain, the "Plumeria Fountain" symbolizes one of the most common, beautiful and fragrant flowers in Hawaii. Many believe the plumeria (also called "Frangipani") to be a tropical flower that is indigenous to Hawaii. Actually these flowers originate from Latin America (Mexico, Central America and Venezuela) and have spread all over the world. In fact, the name "plumeria" is named for a seventeenth-century French botanist, and the name "Frangipani" comes from a sixteenth-century Italian noble family who invented a plumeria-scented perfume.
In Hawaii we use the plumeria for many decorative purposes. You will often find the flower in leis and worn in the ear to symbolize relationship status. And like the Frangipani family, we produce soaps, lotions and perfumes using this sweet smelling flower, here in Hawaii.
Our plumeria-themed tropical tabletop fountain features a hand carved white sandstone bowl that has been sealed to prevent water deterioration. The carvings are of plumeria flowers and plumeria leaves, like the trees found here in Hawaii. The bowl is filled with crumbled white Italian marble, like those in our Mauna Kea Fountain and contains an adjustable, maintenance-free pump. Like our Honu Fountain, this piece utilizes a 3 tier natural slate center, separated with koa wood spacers. Atop the slate and within the bowl we have placed hand painted acrylic plumeria flowers as an accent. These flowers have been left unattached, so you can place them in whichever configuration you desire.
